her translation of the Egyptian Book of the Dead, Awakening
Osiris. Among her other works are: Feasts of Light and Dreams of Isis (essays on Egypt), Voice Forms (poetry) and Sorrowful Mysteries and Other Stories (fiction).
She is a past winner of the Bumbershoot Award for Literature and
grants from the Kentucky Foundation for Women.
Article by Normandi Ellis WHAT EGYPT STILL HAS TO TEACH US.  Mary K. Greer is a revolutionary, breaking all the rules regarding learning and using tarot cards. She has over thirty-eight years tarot experience and, as an author and teacher, emphasizes personal insight and creativity. As a tarot reader, she works as a ‘midwife of the soul,’ using techniques that are interactive, transformational and empowering. workbook format: Tarot Constellations: Patterns of Personal
Destiny (1987); and Tarot Mirrors: Reflections of Personal
Meaning (1988). The Essence of Magic: Tarot, Ritual, and
Aromatherapy (1993) focuses on Tarot correspondences to magical
aromatherapy. Her latest books include The Complete Book of
Tarot Reversals (2002), Understanding the Tarot Court with
Tom Little (2004), and her masterwork, Mary K. Greer’s
21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card (2006). She also wrote Women
of the Golden Dawn: Rebels and Priestesses (1995), a scholarly
biography of four 19th-century magicians. She co-authored Aromatherapy:
Healing for the Body and Soul (1998) with Kathi Keville, President
of the American Herb Association, and assisted Ed Buryn in the creation
of The William Blake Tarot of the Creative Imagination. A two-time Ph.D. drop-out, Mary has an M.A. in English literature and spent eleven years as a faculty member and administrator of a college in San Francisco. As a world traveler, she lived in Japan, Germany, England, Mexico, six states in the U.S., and currently resides in the Sierra Nevada foothills.
