Dear Friends,
What a strange winter it's been. The Pacific side of the country has been dry and hot relative to the historical averages while the eastern half has been pummeled with arctic blasts, one after the other. Unfortunately, our nation's lawmakers along with the majority of citizens, live in the refrigerated side.

I saw a story in the news last week: the chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee was holding up a snowball claiming it was evidence that the climate was not warming. I can't believe that man is actually that ignorant. Rather, he and other politicians are earning their gigantic contributions from the fossil fuel lobbyists. The lobbyists for the big tobacco interests weren't stupid, either; they kept the argument about cancer going for decades, just as coal and oil interests are arguing that we need more time consuming studies be done before we can accept the climate/pollution connection.

Meanwhile, the most important things we can do are to educate ourselves and make sure to spread the truth in a way that fosters change at a fundamental level, and in the dysfunctional legislative bodies that make our laws and regulations.

Ma'atThe Egyptian goddess Ma'at stands firmly on her plinth as the goddess of truth, justice, balance and order—Cosmic Law, not people's law. This winged goddess is the source of what later became known as Lady Justice, and depictions in Greece, Rome, Switzerland, Japan and other cultures, including our own judicial system show her blindfolded with scales in one hand and a sword in the other.

In ancient Egypt, every child was brought up knowing that their main purpose in life is to serve Ma'at— the truth, morality, order and balance of the Universe. The main deity that is the Guardian of Ma'at was and still is Sekhmet, the Lioness headed goddess, daughter of Ra, the Feminine Face of the Sun, Lady of Flame, who appears whenever things get out of balance in the world in order to put things back into order and balance. This daunting task, according to her legend, sent her into a rage and consequent slaughter and carnage from which the human species barely survived.

It is becoming more and more clear that each of us in our way is a guardian of Ma'at, a responsibility to which it is time to awaken and embrace with the passion and courage of Sekhmet's fierce companion.

I know that many of you are already passionately working on the causes that touch you most deeply, and yet for many of us, life attacks in the most distracting ways, causing us to procrastinate and put off doing the things we need to be doing, not just for the planet, but for ourselves as well.

Meanwhile, Sekhmet is calling, and her call is becoming a roar that cannot be ignored. We see the face of her growing rage at the disrespect and desecration of nature and one another reflected in the chaos and destruction in the cradle of civilization. Our task is to be attentive to Sekhmet's growl, to turn the tide from ignorance and misinformation that feeds the flames of rage by becoming involved in justice and quality of life issues. To become engaged with Ma'at and Sekhmet is to become engaged with one's High Self. It's from this lofty peak you can see Truth and find potential solutions and instructions for the next steps to be taken.

Indigo Rønlov will be working on her Zahra project in Egypt starting later this month. I'm so proud of what she has already accomplished there. She will also be preparing the fall tour with Sandra Corcoran, author of Shamanic Awakening, My Journey between the Dark and the Daylight, another great visionary shaman. If you are called to this journey, you will have a most amazing adventure on our private luxury yacht during nine nights of a two week exploration of Egypt's mysteries, her magic, and her monuments. Alchemical and Planetary Healing Intensive Retreat

I will be offering a one-week Alchemical and Planetary Healing Intensive retreat—the operative word here is intensive! Plan to work long hours learning the form and expanding upon it in new, not yet published ways that are sure to delight beginning as well as advanced students. The work is based on, yet not limited to my trilogy, Power Animal Meditations, Alchemical Healing: A Guide to Spiritual, Physical and Transformational Medicine, and Planetary Healing: Spirit Medicine for Global Transformation, co-authored with my husband Mark Hallert. All participants must at least have read Alchemical Healing. The more you've read, studied with any of the Alchemical Healing teachers, and practiced, the deeper you will go. There are a number of teachers who will be teaching beginning classes between now and the retreat, and I am willing to give private tutorial sessions to help you learn the basic.
